In the Community
"For nearly 50 years, Redwood Landfill & Recycling Center has played the dual role of service provider and community member in Marin County. Not only do many of our employees live, work and raise their families in Marin County, but we are privileged to work in a business that improves the health and safety of individuals and communities in a very direct way. Making communities cleaner, safer and stronger is our central focus."
Redwood Manager
Our company is involved with local community organizations, such as the Marin Conservation Corps and the Environmental Forum of Marin. We also participate in numerous community activities and initiatives. We make donations and offer support services to a broad variety of local events, and our employees participate in volunteer efforts throughout the community.
On a policy level, Waste Management plays an active role in the State legislature and has a record of supporting progressive environmental policies and regulations. In California, Waste Management was the first Fortune 500 company to support AB 32, the California Climate Solutions Act of 2006. Additionally, we supported the California Integrated Waste Management Board's Zero Waste Policy, and was a supporter of AB 939, requiring 50% diversion of county waste.
