Plans For The Future

Redwood Landfill and Recycling Center is currently pursing an updated permit. Once this permit has been issued, we will be able to implement many programs that reflect Marin County residents' growing concerns regarding waste, recycling, and reuse. Some changes can begin immediately, while others require additional permitting from regulatory agencies.

New resource management opportunities that will be possible once we complete the current permit process include:

  • More recycling
    • A facility to recycle construction and demolition debris - up to 400 tons per day.
    • Increased array of accepted recyclable materials for self-haul drive-up customers.
    • Bins for recycling cardboard and other paper grades, glass, metal, plastic containers, other basic commodities and used oil and oil filters will be accessible to the public.
  • A landfill gas-to-energy project designed to produce 4-5 megawatts of renewable power.
  • Pursuing a food waste composting program.
